We are an association of forest entrepreneurs located in the Baixo Alentejo, Portugal, which is one of the world’s main cork regions. 70% of the Portuguese cork output are produced in this area.
The cork oak does grow here in natural and semi natural stands, called ‘montado’. We are treating the cork forests throughout the year, not only harvesting the cork in summer, but also pruning out the trees, putting them in conditions, planting new stands, cleaning underneath the canopies and treating diseases.
Consequently we understand and adore the cork forest as a rich eco- system and one of the best examples for a sustainably managed landscape.
